About WGL Energy
WGL Energy is an entity that delivers a full ecosystem of energy offerings including natural gas, electricity, green power, carbon reduction, distributed generation and energy efficiency provided by WGL Energy Services, Inc. (formerly Washington Gas Energy Services, Inc.) and WGL Energy Systems, Inc. (formerly Washington Gas Energy Systems, Inc.). Our calling as WGL Energy is to make energy surprisingly easy for everyone we serve.
Our Environmental Commitment
At WGL Energy, we are deeply committed to offering smart energy solutions that benefit you and the environment. As a champion of the environment, we've been helping our customers achieve their environmental goals as well as instituting our own environmentally responsible business practices. Our corporate headquarters, located in Herndon, Virginia, is certified in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) by the U.S. Green Building Council. In addition, our company facilities use 100% wind power. These ongoing efforts resulted in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarding us with the prestigious 2014 Green Power Supplier of the Year Award. We were also honored with a 2013 D.C. Mayor’s Sustainability Award, which recognizes efforts in environmental stewardship, innovation, pollution prevention and resource conservation, and is a reflection of our customers’ involvement in helping to improve the environment.
As part of our environmental commitment to our customers, many of our energy products include a percentage of clean, emissions-free wind power or carbon offsets, enabling our customers to avoid billions of pounds of carbon emissions.
The positive environmental impact of WGL Energy customers is strong and measurable. In 2013 alone - through using wind power - WGL Energy customers avoided nearly 1.6 billion pounds of carbon dioxide emissions. This is equivalent to taking over 150,000 cars off the road for an entire year.
About Energy Choice
If you live in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia or Washington, D.C., you have a choice when it comes to selecting who supplies electricity and/or natural gas to your home. When you choose WGL Energy you select the term and pricing option that is right for you. And, you will be able to choose green product options, such as wind power and carbon offsets, that are good for the environment. Utility companies do not have product flexibility so they cannot offer you these options.
After you enroll with WGL Energy, there will be no service interruption and your utility company will continue delivering your electricity and/or natural gas to your home, responding to emergencies and reading your meter. For your convenience, WGL Energy supply charges will be itemized on your utility bill, so you’ll only pay one bill.
