Washington Gas Energy Services Introduces New Residential and Small Commercial Energy Offers For BGE Consumers (Update)
Oct 27, 2008
Offers Include Lower Prices for both Electricity and Natural Gas
Herndon, VA — Washington Gas Energy Services, Inc. (WGES), a leading competitive supplier of electricity and natural gas to mid-Atlantic businesses and residential customers, today announced that it is extending its discount residential electricity offer for Baltimore Gas and Electric Customers (BGE). WGES guarantees a 2% discount off BGE’s Standard Offer Service (SOS) winter electricity rates through May 2009.
In addition to offering customers lower prices, WGES provides a cleaner electricity supply. WGES has been a leader in supporting renewable energy, and to continue that record, 5% of the electricity in this BGE residential offer comes from regional wind power facilities.
WGES also offers fixed price and variable price natural gas plans for BGE customers. Residential and commercial customers may choose WGES for long-term price protection with one-year or two-year fixed-price contracts or they may choose to float with the market with a WGES variable price plan.

“Customers throughout the Mid-Atlantic region are facing higher energy prices this winter,” said Kimberly J. August, WGES’ Director of Regulatory, and External Affairs. “Switching to WGES will allow Marylanders the opportunity to take control of their energy bills. Customers also should keep in mind that switching to WGES requires no change to the natural gas or electricity connections to their homes. BGE will continue to distribute the natural gas or power. In fact, WGES will even include its charges right on the customers’ existing utility bill.”
“Interested consumers may visit us on the web at www.wges.com or call our customer service representatives at 1-888-884-WGES (9437) to learn more about choosing our natural gas or electricity offers,” said August.
